My Muxtape (All Chick Power Hour: Songs by Birds But Not Birdsongs)
If you really want to hear about it, the first thing you'll probably want to know is where I was born, and what my lousy childhood was like, and how my parents were occupied and all before they had me, and all that David Copperfield kind of crap, but I don't feel like going into it, if you want to know the truth.

THE WELL OR THE CUP by Kay Ryan

How can
you tell
at the start
what you
can give away
and what
you must hold
to your heart.
What is
the well
and what is
a cup. Some
people get
drunk up.

A feature story on what life is like for women in Saudi Arabia -- the reporting is astounding. And the reality is frightening. [p.s. thanks

White Cube is an excellent art site. Lots of emerging and pioneering artists here to be discovered. And I guess it is associated with a particular gallery, but...they post incredible information about their artists all around the globe.

Robert Therrien is a sculptor and installation artist whose sense of humor wins me over every time. The image featured here is his "round sofa," but he's well known as a minimalist, and for making chair-and-table, and kitchenware (bowls, pots and pans) sculptures that throw off one's sense of scale.

From the page: ". . . Nobody wants, or can bring himself, to look soberly into himself and accept that he is accountable for his own life and his own soul."

"The connection between man's behaviour and his destiny has been destroyed; and this tragic breach is the cause of his sense of instability in the modern world. . . . [man] has arrived at the false and deadly assumption that he has no part to play in shaping his own fate."

"I am convinced that any attempt to restore harmony in the world can only rest on the renewal of personal responsibility." - Andrei Tarkovsky
