This story is amazing, as are many by Donald Barthelme. But it's great because of his use of voice more than the absurd. For jazz and fiction fans. Read. Love! Learn.

Stealing a line from a jazz nerd / comment writer on IMDB. "This movie is an acquired taste and an excellent one at that." Leading man in this Tavernier film is Dexter Gordon, who plays magnificently throughout. Its a really cool blurring of a music documentary with a slow, thoughtful personal drama. Lots of brilliant lines, and beautiful Paris at night scenes.

The personal story of Nat King Cole is as moving as his best songs, which are in my opinion include "Through With Love" and "Sweet Georgia Brown," as well as the wedding classics LOVE and Unforgettable.

hip hop historically draws on jazz (funk, soul and rock too i know) for great loops and beats to drop rhymes upon... this is a compilation of the originals you know from major hip hop records. blue note's way of bridging their heritage to what's going on right now. a good online listen.
