They have a blase, androgynous voiced singer, write upbeat but not syrupy (think late half of Replacements career) songs. They're tight but not restricted, rhythmically. It's fun. Best track to start with = "Die With Me"

- The Beta Band is back together and operating as The Aliens in case you didn't know. Get a little taste via this Playboy music site I mentioned before. (This is last year's, the early post was to the 2008 Rock The Rabbit stuff.) If you're jonesing for some party tracks, this site / marketing vehicle for Playboy's music events is a neat little fix. Not sure I totally agree with Playboy's essential 7 rock records, as they wrote it in 2007. (No Led Zeppelin?) But I love to get myself all in a lather about such things.
